SCE&G helping holiday dreams come true

"It's the joy that we feel out of giving and that's what we get out of it the joy of giving and being able to help someone this time of the year," adds Richmond.

CAYCE (WACH) - Ronald Richmond has been working for South Carolina Electric and Gas for 21 years. During that time Richmond has seen many families that could use a helping hand during the holidays.

"That could've been me that's in the same situation this persons in, I'm glad we took time out to help serve our customers in Columbia," said Ronald Richmond.

The Good Neighbor fund is a non-profit group made up of SCE&G employees who help families during tough times and the holidays.

Employees and retirees gather each year to provide food and gifts for people they've met while working.

This is Richmond's fourth year with the good neighbor fund and he's glad to help any way he can.

"It's the joy that we feel out of giving and that's what we get out of it the joy of giving and being able to help someone this time of the year," adds Richmond.

The Good Neighbor fund has helped 350 families this year and more than 10,000 since 1983.

All the money used to help those in need comes from the pocket of SCE&G employees.
