SCHP investigating fatal hit-and-run in Sumter Co.
SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) —
SCHP is investigating a hit-and-run that happened on Saturday morning in Sumter County.
Lance Corporal Matt Southern with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the incident happened around 5:15 a.m. near the intersection of T B Wright Road and Scotts Branch Road.
Details are limited at this time, but LCpl. Souther said an unknown vehicle driving westbound on T B Wright Road hit a pedestrian and fled the scene.
Sumter County Coroner Robert Baker identified the victim as Devin Dinkins, 41, of Rembert. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Newberry.
