COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Search crews have found the body of a man they say jumped off the Gervais street bridge earlier this month.
Officers with the Department of Natural Resources say the located a body in the Congaree river below the I-77 bridge Thursday afternoon.
On April 10 witnesses told police they heard "a splash" and saw a person struggling in the river.
The original search shut down the Gervais street bridge for several hours.
The Columbia Police Department, Columbia Fire Department and Department of Natural Resources searched the Congaree waters all day for the victim but were unable to locate the person.
Since that day the DNR has continued searching for the person using divers, boats and helicopters.
The search for another person that jumped into a river this week is still ongoing.
DNR search teams were searching for both people using boats and helicopters when the spotted the victim from the Gervais street bridge incident.
