Second suspect arrested in Gilbert shooting

(Lexington, SC WACH)-The Lexington County Sheriff's Department has arrested a second suspect in the fatal shooting of a Gilbert man.

Investigators arrested Nicholas Scott Williams, 26 of Pelion Friday night at the Scottish Inn in Columbia. Arrest warrants allege that Williams and Jeremy Brady, 25 of West Columbia, went to the home of Robert Lewis Mitchell Sr., 72, at 1440 Juniper Springs Road on July 28. Authorities say they went there under the false pretense of buying prescription painkillers from Mitchell, who had previously sold them painkillers in the past.

Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department Fugitive Task Force have arrested a second subject in the fatal shooting of a Gilbert man. Nicholas Scott Williams, 26, of 777 Bub Shumpert Road, Pelion, was arrested on Friday, at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the Scottish Inn, 127 Morninghill Drive, Columbia.

Warrants also allege that Brady and Williams had intent to rob Mitchell of money and painkillers, then fatally shooting Mitchell with a shotgun. The two then allegedly stole money, a safe, credit cards, and painkillers from Mitchell. Detectives recovered at Brady's home and tests will conducted to see if it is the same weapon used the murder.

Both are being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
