Second suspect in pit bull theft arrested
COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – Investigators with the Columbia Police Department have made an arrest in connection with a pit bull theft from the City of Columbia’s Animal Shelter.
Darius N. White is charged with second-degree burglary and larceny. A judge set his bond at $50,000.
White and co-defendant Raqwan Thompson are accused of breaking into the animal shelter at 127 Humane Ln. last month and stealing two dogs.
One of the dogs escaped and was found the next day by animal control personnel.
The female pit bull that was stolen was found last week unharmed and wandering in Cayce. The female pit bull has since been sent back to the animal shelter.
White is currently at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
