Sheriff: Jealous boyfriend shoots at home during break-in

KERSHAW COUNTY (WACH) - Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said a man fired shots while breaking into his girlfriendâ??s home.

Investigators said on July 14 they received a frantic 911 call at 9:05 pm.

The woman said a man was trying to break in her home while she and her 11 year-old son were inside.

Matthews said the man fired shots at the doorknob and through a glass door.

The victim told investigators the man was her former boyfriend Harley Moore.

She said Moore entered the home looking for her, but left when he could not find her he left.

Matthews said deputies found Moore less than a quarter mile away with a .357 magnum and empty shell casings in his pocket.

Matthews said investigators found significant forensic evidence at the scene of the home linking Moore to the crime and also obtained witness statements from the victim and her son. According to the victim she had attempted to sever ties with Moore, but he continuously harassed her over the period of a month.

Moore is charged with 1st degree burglary, discharging a firearm into dwelling, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Moore remains in the Kershaw County Detention Center.
