RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) - Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said the unified gang task force arrested several known gang members.
Lott said on May 27th a 15 year-old was assaulted by five people known to be gang members.
Lott says the Richland County Sheriff's Department Gang Task Force and the Columbia Police Gang Unit arrested Saquan Praylow, Rodney Friday, and Rolmono Cooke for assault and battery by mob.
Lott said investigators are searching for two additional suspects Devan Nelson and Jasmine Sanders.
Lott said the 15 year-old was assaulted at the corner of Plain and Truman streets.
Investigators said the suspects struck the victim in the upper body with an object.
Lott said the teenager was taken to an area hospital and continues to recover from the injuries suffered in the beating.
"The suspects went to the area with the intent to commit a criminal act; rival gangs met to inflict bodily harm, and to terrorize the community,â?? said Lott.
Lott says that the unified gang task force will continue to search for Nelson, Sanders, and any individuals involved in criminal activity.
Sheriff Lott and Chief William Holbrook ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-Crime-SC.
