Richland Co. (WACH)--One man is in custody after allegedly firing shots outside a nightclub.
Richland County Sheriff's Department Deputies were on patrol near Club Caprioska, located on the 7000 block of Parklane Road, when they heard shots fired near the club around 2:30 Sunday morning. Deputy Curtis Wilson said on arrival, they located the suspect, Douglas Boyd, 32, and arrested him.
Wilson said according to witnesses, Boyd along with four women were told to leave the club after a verbal altercation inside. Once outside, they say Boyd began arguing with club security guards. Wilson said Boyd went inside a vehicle with the four women, but came back out and made verbal threats to the security guards.
Deputies say that is when security pepper sprayed Boyd; who went back to the vehicle. Wilson said as the vehicle began to drive off, Boyd shot at the security guards. Deputies say the security guards fired shots back at the vehicle, but no one was injured.
When deputies retrieved the handgun, they said the weapon belongs to the Sheriff's Department and was stolen. Deputies continue to question Boyd, the four women, security guards, and other witnesses.
