CHESTER, S.C. (AP) -- One of two victims of a shooting at a birthday party in Chester is facing a murder charge after a teenager died.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports Chester County deputies and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department charged 24-year-old Quinton McClinton in the shooting death of 18-year-old Kendall Maureece Culp.
Authorities said deputies responded early Sunday morning to shots fired at a home where teenagers had gathered for the party. Culp was hit in the crossfire and fell into a mud puddle. He died at Chester Regional Medical Center.
Police say McClinton was hospitalized in Charlotte after suffering two life-threatening gunshot wounds. Maj. Mary Anne Tolbert with the Chester County Sheriff's Office said that by Monday, McClinton's condition had improved.
McClinton is being held in North Carolina until his extradition.
