      State senator honoring South Carolina's fallen soldiers

      "This year, our state laid to rest seven American heroes, who died in service to our country," said Shealy.

      COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Lexington County Senator Katrina Shealy hosted a luncheon Monday for seven of South Carolina's soldiers who gave their lives while serving our country.

      Shealy, fellow lawmakers and Adjunct General Robert Livingston honoring 1st Lt. Ryan Rawl of Lexington, Sgt. John Meador of Columbia, Private 1st Class Barrett Austin from Easley, Sgt. Channing Hicks, Chief Warrant officer 5 Curtis Reagan, Private 1st Class Adam Ross and Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Thomas form Travelers Rest.

      Shealy and members of the General Assembly presented a framed certificate and a South Carolina Flag flown over the State Capitol to the families of the seven fallen soldiers.

      "This year, our state laid to rest seven American heroes, who died in service to our country," said Shealy. "It is important we never forget their ultimate sacrifices and always honor their families."
