COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Drivers hitting the road this Labor Day weekend will be joining about 30 million other drivers.
Triple AAA expects more than 34 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles away from home.
That's an increase of a little more than four percent compared to the holiday period last year
Triple AAA Carolinas expects a five percent increase in traffic around the state.
The agency says more than 400-thousand South Carolinians will be hitting the road this holiday weekend, but not everyone on the road will be making an end of summer trip.
Truckers will be running routes around the state.
Here are some tips to keep in mind to keep everyone safe on the road.
- Tractor trailers have four blind spots in the front, back, right and left side of the trucks.
- Leave plenty of space bewteen vechicles, trucks take longer to stop due to added weight from the cargo.
- Don't cut truckers off, don't drive aggresivelly and always leave extra space bewteen vechicles.
