COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Showers and thunderstorms have caused flash flooding across parts of the central Midlands.
Flash flooding was observed in both Richland and Lexington counties after between one and five inches of rainfall fell in a short period of time.
The usual locations in Columbia flooded quickly. Rocky Branch Creek overflowed near the intersection of Main and Whaley Streets.
As of Sunday evening the creek was at 11.73 feet. This was the third highest flood stage ever record at this site. Flood stage is 7.2 feet.
SCE&G reported over 4,000 customers without power in the Midlands at 9pm Sunday.
