      Sumter man accused of beating three women with a hammer, killing one

      SUMTER (WACH) - Justin Compton, 33, is currently in custody after being charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, three counts of kidnapping, attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and attempted criminal sexual conduct in the first degree.

      On Saturday, May 3rd, the Sumter County Sheriffâ??s Office responded to 4365 Bethel Church Road in response to an assault call. Upon arrival, deputies found 33 year old Justin Compton outside smoking a cigarette. At that time, it is reported a 14 year old female came running out of the home, bleeding from her head. She told deputies Compton had beat her and her 44 year old mother with a hammer.

      Deputies discovered the 44 year old female inside the home with severe head trauma. Deputies also discovered a 46 year old disabled female in the home who is reported to have also been assaulted by Compton.

      While at the scene the 14 year old female and 46 year old female disclosed to deputies that â??Compton choked the 14 year old with his hand around her neck, and attempted to suffocate the 46 year old with his hand over her nose and mouth.â?? The females said while Compton did this, â??he demanded they undress, and when they refused Compton forced the 14 year old into the living room where she saw her mother in the chair with head injuries.â?? Compton again told the 14 year old to undress and when she refused, Compton began beating the 44 year old mother over the head once again. Compton did not allow any of the females to leave the home but the 46 year old was able to call 911.

      All three victims were transported to Tuomey Regional Medical Center. The 44 year old woman died from her injuries at the hospital.

      After the victims were transported from the scene, Compton began to complain of chest pains and he was transported to the hospital. After he was released, Compton was transported to Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
