SUMTER, S.C. (WACH) - Do you want to help stop hunger in the Sumter Community? Sumter Police are asking folks to join them this Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for the " Mile for a Meal" walk at the Sumter Mall.

Police ask all residents to bring non-perishable food items for the third annual program. All donations help food banks in Sumter. Police and citizens will be walking around the mall as part of the event.

Citizens can also drop off food donations at the Sumter County Law Enforcement Center 107 E. Hampton St. or at Sumter-area Piggly Wiggly stores until November 27, the day before Thanksgiving.

For more information contact the Sumter Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit at 803-436-2723.
