Sumter shooting leaves one dead and another in the hospital

Akeen Lydell Henry, 22, died as a result of the Saturday night shooting in Sumter.

SUMTER, SC (WACH) -- The Sumter Police Department is investigating a Saturday night shooting.

According to the department, the shooting happened at a home on Westmoreland Road in Sumter.

When officers arrived ar the home, they found two men with gun shot wounds. The men were taken to Tuomey Regional Hospital where one of the victims died.

The victim who died has been identified as 22-year-old Akeen Lydell Henry.

Duirng the investigation, police found that two men arrived at the home to speak with Henry, then began shooting at Henry and others who were there.

Henry received severe gunshot wounds to his leg and the other victim was also shot in the lower leg.

The two shooting suspects left in an unknown car, and were described as medium build, black males in their early twenties.

The investigation is ongoing.
