Suspect arrested for Ashton Apartment fire

COLUMBIA (WACH) â?? Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of Brandon Alamin,18, who is charged with two counts of arson.
Alamin was arrested on Friday, November 8, 2013 on Longcreek Drive in Columbia after a thorough investigation; witnesses identified Alamin as a possible suspect responsible for the fires.
Columbia and Richland Fire Departments responded to a fire just after 9:00PM on Thursday, October 28, 2013 at The Ashton Apartments in Columbia. A second fire was located in building 105 at the same location.
Columbia and Richland Fire Marshals determined the fires were suspicious in nature.
Richland County Sheriffâ??s Department Investigators to the scene and questioned witnesses in the area to include Alamin. Richland County Sheriffâ??s Department Arson Investigators gathered evidence from the fire that was consistent with information received from Alamin.
Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Alamin has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
