COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The search for a Columbia shooting suspect is now over.
Columbia police say they have Christopher Robinson, 35, in custody.
Heyward Jackson was shot and killed late Tuesday afternoon on Ervin Street in Columbia. Neighbors flagged down an officer on patrol, who then called EMS crews to the scene. Jackson was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead in the emergency room.
Investigators say the victim was visiting Robinson when the shooting happened. Police say Robinson shot Jackson several times and fled the scene with unidentified woman.
Arrest records show Robinson has lengthy criminal history dating back to 1996.
According to his arrest record he has been arrested numerous times for crimes including; criminal domestic violence, possession of a stolen car, weapons charges and assault and battery.
Robinson will be facing weapons and murder charges in general sessionâ??s court.
Prosecutors are working to schedule a date for his first court appearance.
