NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) —
Charleston and Dorchester County Sheriff's Office deputies, along with North Charleston Police Department officers are searching Friday for a suspect in a reported officer-involved shooting in North Charleston, officials say.
The shooting was reported around 3:45 p.m. Friday. A deputy opened fire at a wanted suspect, identified as Justin Lamar Drayton, 26, according to Maj. Eric Watson with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
Maj. Watson says the Charleston County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the search for Drayton, but that a CCSO deputy did not fire the shots.
Law enforcement is currently looking for the wanted person in the Gables of Charleston mobile home park off Saddlebrook Drive near Patriot Boulevard and Ashley Phosphate Road, which is in the Dorchester County portion of North Charleston.
The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office has not provided information about its involvement in the incident.
Fort Dorchester High School was placed on lockdown because of the incident, and dismissal postponed while law enforcement searches for a suspect. The lockdown was lifted shortly before 5 p.m.
