COLUMBIA (WACH) - The suspect wounded in an officer-involved shooting at a Columbia apartment complex has been identified.
On Wednesday afternoon, Columbia police, SLED agents and Richland County deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant on carjacking suspect Keylan Durham at the Brook Pines Apartments in the Broad River Road area.
Investigators say Durham tried to get away from officers, hitting one of them with his car in the process. That's when officers started firing, wounding Durham and a still unidentified man who was in the car.
The officer and the suspects were treated at a Columbia hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Lexington County authorities are investigating the shooting to avoid any conflict of interest.
Durham is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
Sheriff Leon Lott and Columbia police chief Skip Holbrook have called a news conference for Monday morning where they plan to release new information in the case.
