Kershaw County, SC (WACH)- The man charged with kidnapping a Midlands teenager is now a person of interest in a 10-month-old homicide in another county.

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews tells WACH Fox that while his officers were discussing the search for missing Columbia teen Gabrielle Swainson, they brought up the case of Danny Wood, a homicide victim from October 2011.

Matthews says investigators discussed some similarites between Wood's death and Swainson's disappearance, and named Freddie Grant a person of interest.

Earlier this week, Grant was charged with kidnapping Swainson from her Columbia home. Swainson is still missing.

Grant has not been charged in the Kershaw County case, but deputies have re-opened the investigation into Wood's death.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott was asked about Wood's death at his news conference Thursday morning.

"We will look into the other cases, however, finding Gabbiee is our Priority" said Lott.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department also released a photo of Gabbiee's black pajama pants, she was last seen wearing a similar pair when she disappeared from her Northeast Columbia home on August 18.
