Suspect wanted for armed robbery on USC campus captured

COLUMBIA (WACH) â?? U.S. Marshals said they have captured a man investigators said is responsible for an armed robbery on the University of South Carolina campus.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals tells WACH Fox Kevin Rick Oâ??Neal who was wanted for an armed robbery on the USC horseshoe was captured by law enforcement this week.

USC Police said Just before 1 a.m. on August 21 investigators said a person was walking on the USC Horseshoe and was confronted by Oâ??Neal. Officers said Oâ??Neal presented a gun and demanded money.

The victim did not have money, so the suspect walked with the victim to his room at East Quad. Police said the suspect left East Quad and was last seen walking towards Five Points.

USC Police said the victim was not injured and law enforcement patrolled the area and determined the person was no longer in the area.

Officials said there was no emergency notification sent to the community due to a delay in the crime being reported to the police.

The case is being investigated by the University of South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement and Safety.
