COLUMBIA (WACH) - A man's wallet was taken by a woman in line behind him after he accidentally left the wallet at a local grocery store check out, according to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.
Lott says the victim left his wallet at the Food Lion on Garners Ferry Road around 3:30 Monday and a female customer behind him in line stole the wallet and left the store.
Authorities hope the community can help them identify the woman who is wanted for larceny.
The suspect was captured on video surveillance equipment at the store.
According to Lott, the video shows the suspect knocking the wallet to the floor after the man left. She then bends down to pick up the wallet and exits the store without turning in the wallet.
Lott says the victim said the wallet contained $200, his identification card and various credit cards. One of the credit cards was used to make a purchase at T-mobile for $107.62 after the time of the theft.
