SUMTER, SC (WACH) - A fire that occurred at a Sumter business early Monday morning is under investigation by the Sumter Police Department.
Police describe the incident as "suspicious" and say authorities were alerted to the blaze at Lowery Heating & Air on Neeley Street around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Police and Firefighters arrived to find the building completely taken by flames, according to police officials. Firefighters worked to contain the fire for almost 2 hours.
The building was completely destroyed.
Authorities estimate the damage at $310,000.
Investigators have reason to believe the fire was intentionally set, but The cause for the fire has not been determined.
No injuries were reported.
