COLUMBIA (WACH) - A teen has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a pizza delivery man. A second suspect is still wanted in the crime.
Chief Randy Scott with the Columbia Police Department announced Tuesday afternoon that a 16-year-old was arrested Monday and charged with armed robbery, criminal conspiracy and grand larceny of a motor vehicle.
Authorities say the armed robbery occurred on Tuesday, July 10 at the Brook Pines Apartment Complex.
According to Scott, the teen and another suspect are accused of ordering pizza by phone from a local restaurant and waiting at an apartment for the delivery. Once the delivery man arrived in his vehicle, he tell officers that he knocked on the apartment door mentioned by the person ordering the pizza.
The suspects came to the door wearing masks, said Scott. One suspect is accused of pointing a gun at the delivery man's head, demanding money and the keys to his car.
Scott says the suspects are accused of stealing cash, the victim's vehicle, the victim's phone and a box of pizza. No one was injured and the vehicle has been recovered.
