CAMDEN, SC (WACH) - The Kershaw County Sheriff's Department says an argument resulted in the stabbing of one man and the arrest of another.
Sheriff Jim Matthews announced Friday that Paul Franklin Washington, 18, was arrested Friday, June 29 on a charge of assault and battery. Washington is accused of stabbing a male victim once in the chest.
Matthews says deputies went to the River Winds Apartments in Camden on June 21 after receiving a call reporting a stabbing. Witnesses along with the victim said Washington was the assailant in the incident.
According to officials, investigators searched for Washington for several days. He was arrested by a uniformed officer Friday and taken into custody. During questioning, Washington reportedly admitted to stabbing the victim who remains at a local hospital in critical, but stable condition.
â??People need to learn to walk away from an argument before it escalates to this type of violence. Now an 18 year old young man faces a lengthy prison sentence if convicted of this crime and another man lies in a hospital bed in intensive care fighting for his life,â?? said Sheriff Matthews.
Washington is awaiting a bond hearing at the Kershaw County Detention Center.
