Teen found shot,burned near Harbison area


Columbia, S.C. (WACH)-- The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a Columbia teen as a homicide.

Columbia Firefighters responded to a call of a brush fire at an apartment complex near the 200 block of Columbiana Drive when they found the body of 18-year-old Keon Malik Brantley in a wooded area, according to detectives.

Lexington County Corner Margaret Fisher confirmed that Brantley died of a bullet wound before firefighters found his body near the parking lot of an apartment complex.

"Investigators have canvassed the area where Mr. Brantley died," Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. "We've collected evidence from the site where we believe Mr. Brantley was originally injured as part of our effort to piece together what led to his death."

Koon asks anyone with any information on what might have happened to Brantley to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
