ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- The great-grandson of an 86-year-old Anderson County man found shot to death in his home has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for his role in the slaying.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reports that 19-year-old Charles Bell pleaded guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter. Three other defendants, including the man who pulled the trigger, have also pleaded guilty and are in prison.
Prosecutors say the four suspects wore masks and gloves when they robbed Glenn Craft in his Belton home in July 2011. They did not t have to break in because a sign on the door told visitors to come right in because Craft could not hear them knock.
Craft was shot as he lay in a hospital bed. Volunteers delivering him food found his body.
