The Heart of a Hero: Vietnam vet shares journey through war

A Sumter native and Vietnam war veteran publishes first book on his journey from Vietnam to 9/11.

Lieutenant Clarence Singleton is a decorated Vietnam Veteran and a former New York City firefighter who was on the scene for both attacks on the World Trade Center Towers in New York City and was instrumental in saving many lives before being seriously injured himself.

The Sumter native is now sharing his journey in combat abroad and here at home in his first book "The Heart of a Hero."

"The miracle is each day and it's a lesson we all can follow. Don't quit until the miracle happens," says Lt. Singleton

A booksigning will take place Saturday, Sept. 28, at the main entrance of Sumter Mall from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
