Columbia (WACH) -- Although winter begins this weekend, itâ??s going to feel more like a spring weekend.
Warmer air thanks to southerly winds has invaded the southeastern part of the country.
Near record highs are expected on Saturday for Columbia.
By Sunday many locations will be flirting with the 80 degree mark.
The catch to this weekend warm-up is the threat for severe weather by Sunday afternoon and night.
A strong cold front will move into the area Sunday increase our threat for strong and even severe thunderstorms with a primary threat of gusty winds.
Behind the front highs will drop into the lower 50s by Christmas Eve.
