      Third graders take on engineering

      Students learned to work with Legos, how to combine technology and math, as well as planting flowers without sunlight.

      COLUMBIA (WACH)--Are you smarter than a third grader?

      If you take a visit to Leaphart Elementary School, your answer will probably be "No."

      Home of the Leprechauns and the only Engineering Arts Program in the Midlands, Leaphart Elementary celebrating National Engineers Week with robotics and planting.

      Students learned to work with Legos, how to combine technology and math, as well as planting flowers without sunlight.

      "If you like wanna plant something or you wanna do something like that you can always just learn about it," said one student.

      The students will send off a plant grown inside the classroom to a school in Utah to show off their skills.

      Leaphart Elementary is a blue ribbon school.
