Three men face charges after police say they attacked deputies and had illegal drugs

COLUMBIA (WACH) â?? The Richland County Sheriffâ??s Department is investigating the Sunday morning arrest of three men on various charges, including assaulting deputies, and possession of marijuana, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott, on Sunday morning, deputies went to 600 Summer Crest Road to investigate a tip that a runaway was staying there.

When deputies arrived, and spoke with 20-year-old Andrew Clay Miller at the door, they could immediately smell marijuana from inside, and began to ask about it. Andrew C. Miller tried close the door on the deputy, however, was unsuccessful. He also tried to hit the deputy.

Other deputies arrived, according to Lott, at which point, 60-year old Andrew B. Miller (the initial suspects father), became involved, and assaulted the deputies. Both Millers into custody, along with 19-year-old Reynerio Romero, who was taken into custody without incident, and charged with possession of marijuana.

The juvenile, whose name has been withheld, was also found at the house, and turned over to his parents.

Lott said that his deputies were treated at the scene by EMS for minor injuries from the assault.

Andrew C. Miller and Andrew B. Miller (father and son), both face charges of assault on a police officer and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Reynerio Romero was charged with simple possession of marijuana.

All three men were taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
