Sumter County Deputies arrested Christopher Mcfadden, Jr. and Brittany Shapely for conspiracy and unlawful conduct towards a child after a 6-month-old girl was discovered to have permanent brain injuries.
They are accused of deliberately avoiding giving their daughter medical treatment. The two took the infant to Sumter Pediatrics where doctors discovered the girl had a permanent brain injury and they believe there was an attempted suffocation causing the girl to suffer a loss of oxygen. The infant was later taken to Palmetto Health Richland where doctors say they realized the 6-month-old had healed from previous rib fractures.
