CASSATT, SC (WACH) - A pair of men with long criminal histories were arrested for breaking into several vehicles inside the shop area of the Cassatt Water Company.
John Cleadus Hunter, 35, and William Harvey Martin, 41, both of Cassatt, are accused of stealing gasoline and tools from vehicles at the Cassatt Water Company.
Deputies used blood hounds to track both men and found they had cut a hole in the fence of the water company to get to the vehicles and tools.
Both men have been charged with five counts of auto breaking and unlawful entering into an enclosed space and are being detained in the Kershaw County Detention Center at this time. All of the property stolen has been recovered.
Martin has an arrest record dating back to 1989 with arrests for malicious injury to property, avoiding payment of a telecommunications, grand larceny, numerous counts of breaking into a motor vehicle, unlawful entry into an enclosed area, petty larceny, possession of burglary tools, receiving stolen goods, attempt to smuggle contraband into a jail, possession of marijuana, burglary, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, driving under suspension and criminal domestic violence.
Hunter has an arrest record dating back to 1995 with arrests for criminal sexual conduct, simple possession of marijuana, burglary, driving without a license, probation violation, criminal domestic violence, breach of peace, assault and battery, receiving stolen goods, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, driving under suspension and open container.
