Two drug busts in Richland County helped by community tips

Crystal meth, cash, and heavy firepower are all part of two drug busts earlier this week.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said, "This is not your little nickel and dime dealers that are on the street corners. These are big-time dealers."

On Tuesday, Richland County Narcotics Agents got a tip and went to an apartment complex on Sparkleberry Lane. The tip paid off. Agents say they found crystal meth worth more than $265,000.

Sheriff Lott said, "Six pounds of crystal meth - This is by far the largest meth seizure in Richland County."

Deputies arrested Brenda Cruz, Francisco Sanchez, and Blance Rivera - all in jail facing drug charges.

On Wednesday, another tip leads the Narcotics Team to a mobile home park on Alpine Road. They find 22 pounds of cocaine and more than $200,000 in cash. Then early Thursday morning, a search produces what Sheriff Leon Lott calls "the scary part."

"When you talk about how dangerous drug trafficking is - 50-caliber rifle and a machine pistol."

Deputies have arrested Rodney Gibson, Tyrone Edmunds, and William Hair in this case... all thanks to public tips.

Sheriff Lott said, "People are getting fed up with what's going on in our community."

Speaking out gets action in Richland County.
