UPDATE: Arrest made in connection with deadly overnight shooting

Nicholas Moses arrested after inadvertantly shooting driver

COLUMBIA (WACH) - A 19 year old Columbia man arrested in connection with a deadly shooting on Garners Ferry Road.

Sunday, police charged Nicholas Reed Moses with involuntary manslaughter and unlawful possession of a weapon. CPD says Moses and the victim were at a party together with other people earlier Saturday night.

Authorities believe that during the party, an argument between Moses and another person escaled to the point that police were called to break up the gathering. Moses left with two people, one of them was 18 year old Shamoray Robinson.

As they drove on Garners Ferry Road, the person in the initial confrontation pulled up beside the Robinson's car and began to argue with Moses, who pulled out his gun and unintentionally shot Robinson in the drivers seat.

When police arrived around 1:00AM, they found Robinson lying on the ground. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
