Tue, 21 Jan 2014 08:19:54 GMT — FOREST ACRES (WACH) -- A home invasion in Forest Acres has left one man dead. Forest Acres Police Chief Gene Sealy says Patterson and two other men entered a home on Linbrook Drive early Monday Morning. Sealy says the men knocked on the door and forced their way into the home. Once inside Sealy says the men fired warning shots and moved towards the back of the home. That's when investigators say one of the men in the home fired shots back striking and killing one of the suspects. Richland County Corner Gary Watts says 23-year old Deshawn Patterson died from complications from gun shot wounds. A State Law Enforcement criminal background check shows Patterson has a lengthy rap sheet, dating back to 2009. The most recent charge Patterson was facing, armed robbery with a deadly weapon from September of last year. Chief Sealy say officers are still searching for two suspects who fled on foot. "Keep your door locked and see who's at the door. Certainly don't open the door unless you know the individuals there. We don't have a fence around the town so we're subject to folks coming and going all the time," said Sealy. This isn't the first high profile crime in the usually quiet Forest Acres. Saturday afternoon two men entered CVS brandishing handguns and robbed the store and employees in broad daylight. The two suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. The Forest Acres police are asking you to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC if you know anything about either crime.
