USC student says man tried to abduct her in broad daylight

USC students says man tried to kidnap her in the 600 block of Pickens Tuesday morning.

COLUMBIA (WACH) - The Columbia Police Department and USC Division of Law Enforcement and Safety are investigating an attempted kidnapping on the campus of the University of South Carolina.

It happened Tuesday morning just before 10:30 in the 600 block of Pickens. A female student told police a man approached her from behind and grabbed her arm and tried to take her against her will. The woman managed to run away and was not injured.

The victim describes the suspect as a dark-skinned black male, approximately 30-years-old, 6'0"-6'2" tall, 180 pounds, with short hair and 'stubble."

He was last seen wearing black nylon shorts, with a white, short-sleeved shirt and black high top tennis shoes with white markings.

CPD is working with a forensic artist to draw a composite sketch of the suspect.
