USC students trade beach for studies for Spring Break

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- Some students at the University of South Carolina are trading the beach for a little education for Spring Break.

On Monday, a group of students left for a bus tour of significant places during the Civil Rights Movement.

The students will visit Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville, Tenn. as well as Selma and Birmingham, Ala.

While traveling students will also do community service projects related to the Civil Rights Movement in those areas.

Alternative Spring Break trips like this one, are offered to Carolina students during the fall, winter and spring breaks.
