COLUMBIA (WACH) - Last month, investigators say a Richland County Deputy, Corporal Kenneth Proffitt, simply disregarded a stop light and slammed into another car.

Less than a week later, Proffitt was fired by Sheriff Leon Lott.

The above video shows the story of what happened the night of Proffitt's wreck on July 25th.

If you look to the top center of your screen, you'll see Proffitt's patrol car crashing into another vehicle at the intersection of Trenholm Road and Two Notch Road.

His car hit so hard it flipped over, landing on its roof

The other driver had just minor injuries, but the accident was the 3rd strike against Proffitt, which Lott said violated the Department's policy on at-fault traffic accidents.
