WATCH: Juveniles arrested in case of burned, chained dog found in Awendaw
Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon stepped in front of news reporters and television cameras Friday and announced three arrests in the case of a dog found dead, burned and chained in Awendaw last week.
Three juveniles -- two 12-year-olds and a 13-year-old are now facing felony animal cruelty charges and are currently at the Charleston County juvenile detention center.
Deputies responding to the scene on April 11 reported the dog looked like it had been dragged down the road and then set on fire. An incident report states tight-fitting chains were wrapped around its muzzle, torso and legs.
The sheriff said details from a necropsy performed at the University of Georgia aren't available yet, and the investigation continues.
