LEXINGTON COUNTY (WACH) - A second suspect in the shooting death of a 43-year-old woman was arrested in New York on Thursday.
Sheriff James R. Metts says officers with the Rome, New York Police Department arrested 24-year-old John Christopher Hart, who was wanted in Lexington County on a charge of murder in connection with the deadly shooting of Paula Denise Justice on April 10.
On Friday, Hart was being held in Oriskany, New York while awaiting an extradition hearing, according to Metts. Lexington County Sheriff's Department detectives have traveled to New York to question Hart.
Metts says detectives gathered information that lead them to believe Hart traveled to New York and requested assistance from the Rome Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Hart is accused of shooting Justice on April 10 just before midnight.
Metts says detectives determined Justice had arranged to meet with Hart, who was with an acquaintance, around 10:15 p.m. on April 10. Two repo men discovered Justice lying injured on Lumberjack Road just before 11:20 p.m. that night.
The acquaintance with Hart has been identified by authorities as 20-year-old Tevin Xavier Deloach, who has been arrested and is charged with murder. He was denied bond and is detained at the Lexington County Detention Center.
