Wet Thursday, drier conditions to follow

COLUMBIA (WACH)-- A cold front that has been moving east across the U.S. this week has finally arrived in the Midlands.
The rain began early this morning and will continue for the rest of the day, with about 1 to 2 inches expected. An area of low pressure will develop along the frontal boundary in the Gulf and travel north toward us, bringing us greater chances for thunderstorms this afternoon.
Once we lose the daytime heating, any remaining thunderstorms will fizzle out to showers tonight. Some of those could linger overnight, but weâ??ll see a dry commute into work Friday morning, as skies continue to clear.
Cooler and drier air moves in after the boundary passes through tonight and we stay dry and comfortable as we move to the weekend.
