COLUMBIA (WACH) - Some Midlands residents braved the chilly weather Sunday to enjoy some food that's a little out of the ordinary.
The 18th Annual South Carolina Oyster Festival brought out oyster rookies and veterans alike.
There were steamed and fried oysters for sale, along with plenty of other types of vendors.
A portion of the Festival's proceeds went to benefit Pawmetto Lifeline.
And it turns out the inspiration for the Festival actually came from outside of Columbia.
"We had attended the one in Charleston so many times and had such a good time in Charleston, we decided to bring some of the lowcountry here to Columbia." says Shawn Rankin, the Festival promoter.
