Winter tease blows by the Midlands

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A taste of winter was seen for some in the Midlands.

For only the third time in 124 years at Columbia, measureable snow was recorded.

Columbia Metro Aiport received a trace of snow on Tuesday evening.

November 9th is the earliest in that period that snow has been recorded at Columbia.

According to the National Weather Service, Columbia Metro Airport has a 0.016% chance of seeing snow in November.

No significant accumulations were reported as ground temperatures are too warm. Some elevated surfaces did see a little accumulation in the northern half of the Midlands.

Temperatures will only make it to the upper-40s for Wednesday.

Overnight low temperatures will dip down to the mid-20s. All of this is due to the arctic cold front that passed through the area on Tuesday.

Temperatures went from 71 degrees at 4:00 p.m. to 36 degrees just before midnight.

A slight warm up is forecasted over the next seven days.
