Wolf-dog mix has neighbors in Bluffton worried

BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) -- Some Bluffton residents are concerned that a wolf-dog mix that howls at the moon and is caged in their neighborhood could be dangerous.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports that Beaufort County dispatchers have received nine calls in the last two months complaining of an animal running loose or a disturbance at the home.

Animal control officers plan to meet with the owner this week.

Owner Nick Turner says the animal named Shadow is up for adoption because he has struggled with finances recently.

Last month a woman complained the animal howls all the time and looked skinny.

But Turner says Shadow is healthy and is fed raw meat and dog food. He said while people don't like the idea of wolf dogs, his pet is not dangerous.
