ABBEVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Abbeville County sheriff's deputies have arrested a woman and accused her of hiring a teen to kill another man.

Sheriff Ray Watson said Thursday that 39-year-old Karlita Phillips had been charged with the use of or employment of a person under the age of 18 in a violent crime.

A 17-year-old has been charged with murder. Authorities say he shot and killed 30-year-old Jamil Phillips on March 25 at Karlita Phillips' request.

Authorities said the teen was already jailed on an unrelated murder charge when he was accused in the new case.

A judge has denied bond for both suspects, and it wasn't known if they had attorneys.
