Woman accused of stealing donations meant for burn victims identified

FOREST ACRES, SC (WACH) - Police say the person accused of stealing a donation jar used to raise funds for burn victims was stolen from a local convenience store last week has been identified.
Authorities say the woman accused of taking the donation jar from a Pitt Stop on Forest Drive has been identified as Maria Rioland and a warrant is outstanding for her arrest.

According to officials with the Forest Acres Police Department, Rioland is accused of walking to the register of the store, putting a drink on the counter and grabbing a jar that contained approximately $10 of donations for the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation. The suspect then got into a pick up truck and drove away.
The incident report also says the suspect removed several items from the drink cooler in the store and concealed them in a handbag.
