COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The City of Columbia's Office of Economic Development and the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP) will host a Lunch and Learn on Friday to talk about expansion opportunities for local businesses.
The Lunch and Learn is intended for those companies who are interested in expanding customer base in the automotive, aerospace, and nuclear industries. All three are growing rapidly in the state of South Carolina. An international accredited registration company will be on-hand to describe the registration process and address questions. Registration to one of these certifications is strongly encouraged as it can open doors to more opportunities with businesses like SCANA and Boeing.
"These are very important certifications and they're important because there is a lot of opportunity for companies here in the midlands, in Columbia and throughout South Carolina," says Chuck Bunday with the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
"We must make sure our businesses are prepared to compete in a global economy. this opportunity presents us with the significant chance to do just that," says Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin. "With the tens of billions of dollars that will be spent in the aerospace, automotive, and nuclear industries alone, we're going to have companies in Columbia south Carolina alone that can compete."
This event is sponsored by Midlands Technical College, Center for Manufacturing and Technology, SCMEP, City of Columbia Office of Economic Development, Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce and AQA International.
