WATCH: Three firefighters escape burning house on San Antonio's East Side

SAN ANTONIO - Three firefighters needed to be evacuated from a burning house Saturday night on the city's East Side.

Emergency crews were called to 919 Virginia Blvd at about 8 p.m. for reports of a fire. Authorities said the fire started with a small gas leak in the stove, igniting a fire that claimed the entire house. Three firefighters were trapped inside during what is called a "flash over" and escaped through the front window without injuries. A "flash over" happens when heat and smoke ignite an entire room at one time, officials said.

Authorities said no one was home at the time of the fire. The family will be displaced from the fire, he said.
