Columbia Metro adds airline April 1

Spokesman Bill Maloney says Vision will offer flights twice a week to and from Columbia on Boeing 737 jets.

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Columbia will be adding another flight to their departure board April 1.

Vision Airlines will begin non-stop service to Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Introductory fares start at $49.

Spokesman Bill Maloney says Vision will offer flights twice a week to and from Columbia on Boeing 737 jets.

"We're not a new airline," he says. "I want to emphasize that. We have been around since 1994. We've flown millions of people around the world, through our charter services, whether it's government, sports teams."

Airport Director Dan Mann says thousands of South Carolinians make the eight hour drive to Florida's panhandle. Because of that, he believes there's a demand for the air service.
